Eukaryotic Expression Facility

Purpose of the platform (operated by EMBL)

Eukaryotic Expression Facility EEF

The EEF is an EMBL installation in the CIBB building which uses MultiBac-EMBL, our state-of-the-art baculovirus expression system for multiprotein complex production developed by the Berger Group.

- Introduction into baculovirus/insect cell expression
- Introduction into our MultiBac-EMBL system for multiprotein complex production
- Multigene expression cassette generation
- Composite baculovirus generation
- Virus generation and amplification
- Viral performance and protein production monitoring
- Smale-, medium-, large scale protein (complex) expression
- Analytical scale complex identification (if His-tag is used)

Our MultiBac platform is particularly successfull for high-level production of kinase complexes, virus-like proteins (VLPs), nuclear factors and many other eukaryotic complexes.

Access Mode: Training and Collaboration

Cost for the PSB users: For training: Reimbursement for media and materials. Collaborations: no costs

Additional Information: [e.g. time scales, involvement expected if collaboration] We are involved in several European programs to train users in baculovirus/insect cell expression by using our MultiBac-EMBL method. We typically do not train more than one user group simultaneously. Therefore, early registration is recommended.
