EMBL seminar room, 8 September 2010
Informations about the workshop
27 September to 2nd October 2010
The purpose of this Hercules Specialised Course is to give the participants an introduction to high pressure research at large experimental facilities such as the synchrotron and the neutron reactor. The basic principles of SR and neutron techniques used to explore matter at extreme conditions of pressure and temperature will be illustrated. The school will also provide cross-disciplinary examples in a representative range of scientific areas, covering fundamental physics, earth and planetary science, chemistry and material science. The lectures will cover both theoretical and experimental aspects for a non-expert audience. They will be complemented by tutorials and practicals at several ESRF and ILL beam-lines and include an introduction to high pressure cell loading techniques.

25 - 26th October 2010
at the Institut Laue-Langevin, Grenoble, France
The aim of the meeting is to bring together users and experts in the field to discuss the contribution of advanced neutron reflectometry for solving questions related to the physics and chemistry of thin films, interfaces, and nanostructures. Both scientific questions and new approaches within neutron reflectometry will be addressed. An emphasis will be on increasing awareness of scientific possibilities at new facilities, including the new Super-ADAM instrument at ILL.
Submitted contributions will be welcomed, with opportunities to give oral or poster presentations. A description of the workshop and further details can be found at: http://www.ill.fr/news-events/events/superadam
Registration is now open, with a deadline of the 10th September. We will gratefully receive abstracts for oral or poster presentations, with a deadline of the 24th September.
We have attached a poster that you might like to print and
We look forward to welcoming you to Grenoble in October.

First announcement for the workshop BILL2011 - Bilayers at the ILL that will take place at the Institut Laue Langevin in Grenoble on January 12th - 14th 2011.
This workshop will continue the discussion on model membranes begun at the ISIS Bilayers 2009 meeting by reviewing current neutron scattering work on lipid bilayer structure and its relevance in biomedical applications, followed by discussion on improving methods to obtain stable, reproducible, biologically relevant model membrane systems, optimization of sample environments, data analysis and application of emerging techniques to membranes.
The deadline for abstract submission is October 20th 2010. We hope that you will join us in what is expected to be an exciting meeting on a topic of great relevance in areas that range from physics to soft matter, biology, nanotechnology, pharmacology.
Further information will be soon available at the workshop web-page: http://www.ill.eu/news-events/events/bill2011/
Best regards
The organizers B. Demé, G. Fragneto, L. Porcar, H. Wacklin
